Advice and help ladies

Okay it has been a while I’ve been trying to conceive well over a year , & now I decided to go to the doctor to see what’s going on. I believe all my life I’ve had irregular periods (I do not want to go back on birth control) but recently for last couple months 2/3 to be exact my periods been very long and heavy. (Idk what’s going on) but my question is should I go straight to a fertility clinic since I wanna know why I haven’t gotten pregnant yet, or am I suppose to go to a gyno first to see what’s going on with periods or a fertility clinic can tell me that too ?. Sorry for rambling and any advice and suggestions will be highly appreciated.
