Neighborhood kids selling things door to door, inappropriate or not?

For the last 4 days, the neighborhood older kids have rang our doorbell multiple times and the first day, I open the door and they are selling these colorful rocks they painted with those squiggly eyes for a dollar... I asked is this for a cause or for what? And they said for jewelry and stuff meaning tor themselves... I went ahead and bought one (why I don't know) but now it's the 4th day, they keep coming by and I really wonder if their parents know they are doing this? They aren't our close neighbors, a street over... older kids. Would you try and tell the parents somehow... I feel like this could get awkward. What would you say or do?

If you don’t want to buy their stuff, simply tell them you’re not interested and ask them not to come back 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t see why you want to get their parents involved. They’re just kids doing kid stuff and as long as they aren’t hurting anyone or breaking any laws I don’t see why you can’t just mind your own business

I actually give the kids credit for trying to make things to sell. Most kids just stick their hands out and expect money from their parents.  If you aren’t interested, like everyone else said.... don’t answer the door, or tell them you aren’t interested in buying their stuff.

When I was younger, me and my neighborhood buddies would go outside with cups in the winter after it had been snowing, get some snow in our cups, then go around trying to sell people "snowcones". 😂

It's not inappropriate. They are kids who just want to make money by making some funny art. I think I'd a few because it sounds cool, plus I have a few family members who collect rocks and this would give them a laugh. 
Like someone said, just tell them to not come back again. Maybe put a little tape/sign over the doorbell saying "out of work". Kids can barely knock on doors lol. I think that's all you can do.

There were two little girls who came to my house (neighbors) selling teddy grahams w/ peanut butter in between two for .50¢. They said they worked really hard on them all day. It was so cute so I bought a few, they came to my house twice. I did worry that they would keep coming back so I decided if it became too frequent I would just have to politely tell them no thank you but that they were doing a great job.
