What contraception is best for me

Question

Some things to consider:
I would need to hide the pill from my parents
There’s isn’t a very good time to take the pill for me (early in the morning isn’t good as I wake up later on weekends) 
I haven’t given birth (would coils be suitable?)
I am thinking either depo shot or pill or coil
Also
How is the implant put in?
I would like to still get periods to know if I’m pregnant

If you aren’t wanting your parents to know I’m thinking hormonal birth control may not be suitable due to possible side effects to your body and money. Granted I don’t know your exact situation but from what you have stated, I don’t think hormonal birth controls are a good idea for now from what I gather. I would suggest non hormonal birth control methods. They are usually cheaper, usually have no side effects and (depending on what is used) once you’ve used the item you just get rid of it🤷🏻‍♀️

I would speak to a doctor. I don’t know how old you are, but you could ask about Paragard. Copper IUD, non hormonal and lasts for up to 12 years. Since it isn’t hormonal you should still get your periods every month, and won’t have the weight gain, mood swings, etc. that hormonal birth control can sometimes cause. Depending on how old you are, sometimes doctors can be apprehensive about the IUD. Money can also be a problem depending on if your insurance will cover it and how much. Mine was completely covered under Obamacare because I’m not on my mom’s insurance through her employer.
You should go to go see your regular gynecologist to talk about your options, or your local Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood also has a ton of information on their website as well. If you already have a gynecologist, I would go see them just because they’ll have better knowledge about your body and your history. I don’t have one, and I never went to see a gynecologist before or anything when I went to Planned Parenthood for my IUD. Set up my appointment, answered some questions, got a quick checkup, and had it inserted all in one day. It was fairly quick and painless, my doctor and the rest of the staff were great. So if you have to go to PP, don’t be worried that they don’t know what they’re doing. (I was under the impression that only trashy people went there and that the doctors and employees end up there because they’re bad at their jobs. Couldn’t have been further from the truth.)

I would say implant as it’s the safest out there. It’s inserted by doctor in your hand, so after it heals, no one can tell you have one. Before making decision, please consult doctor as some bc might not work for you, your doctor will suggest the best option

i agree you need to speak a doctor bc there are other health factors that need to be taken into account when getting birth control. they cannot disclose to your parents what they discuss with you. that being said, it sounds like the pill is not a good option for you. i dont recommend the shot. very rarely does it work out well and its the most risky in terms of health and usually has the most and strongest side effects (its a heavy does of hormones all at once, very uncomfortable). the copper coil is not recommended if you haven't given birth. your best options are a smaller iud or implant, i would *assume*. so probably do some more of your own research on those if youre interested in them and prepare a list of questions for your doctor.
