contractions

tiphnie

so this is my first day home from spending three days and two night in the hospital. I had a kidney infection that developed and got bad enough in 24 hours for my body to go into pre term labour and cause me to dialate 1 cm and become 75% effaced in about 6 hours. i didnt even feel the contractions. i was having contractions 5 min apart and lasting 45 seconds to a min. i didnt even know. they put me on 4mg magnesium drip for about 12 hours and then dropped it to two for another 14 then put it at 1 for a few hours and then took me off because my contractions had almost stopped compleatly. It is very likely that baby boy will be here in the next two weeks and they wont stop the contractions if they start again since they gave me steroid shots for his lungs even though he should only be 32 weeks. im on bedrest until the doctors decide to take me off but at least i get to be home now. no more monitors or anything. only thing that sucks is that the preterm labor has caused my milk to come in and i hadnt gotten a pump yet because i thought i had time. i guess i need to get one now so that i have it. i didnt realise how bad it would hurt for them to het so full so fast and not be able to do anything to get it out. but anyway... how did contractions originally feel for you ladies? they didnt tell me things to watch out for before i left the hospital just to watch for contractions and if i have 5+in an hour for two hoirs straight to go to the hospital. but like i said before i didnt know i was having them in the first place. i was already in so much pain from my kidneys that i didnt feel them they actually gave me dulahdid for the pain before i had asked for any pain killer. so i didnt feel anything but how tired i was and i could hardly walk after they gave me magnesium drip on my iv line. so could any of you ladies tell me things i should look out for? what were your original contractions like? what are signs i should look for that i may be having one? baby is already head down very close to my cervical opening also so i was told to not sit up or stand for more than a few min at a time and not to bear down if i use the bathroom.
