My Gastroschisis Baby
We found out at 20 weeks our babygirl had gastroschisis. for those of you who don't know what that is, it is where her abdomen wall didn't close all the way. Therefore, leaving a hole in her abdominal wall, so some of her bowell were on the outside of her body. fast forward. The doctor wanted us induced at 37 weeks, to prevent still birth. the induction went smoothly, and I was only in active labor for 7 hours, pushed for 25 minutes. Then she was here! afterwards was the hard part. my baby got wheeled straight to the nicu, so they could get her belly In order. her bowell were in a silo for 2 days before they could totally close up her belly. after that she spent 25 days in the nicu before we could go home. we did have to go back about a week later due to a bowell obstruction, and mal rotation . she had surgery one more time to clear it up, and fix the mal rotation. we were in the hospital for 2 more weeks for recovery. and here she is at 2.5 months old better than ever, and happy as can be
