I just have to add my argument. Marching band is, by definition, a sport. And even if you don't consider it a physical sport like football or baseball (although with all the visuals it's just as much of a sport as any form of dance), it can still be considered an academic sport (much like chess and other mentally taxing competitive academic sports). Marching band is both physical (try jazz running with a sousaphone in 172bpm) and mental (again, academic sport), and can be considered a sport in both respects. Meanwhile, if one believes that marching band cannot be considered a sport due to the it's "lack" of possible injury, then I would like to introduce you to the people running around on the field with literal swords, guns and flags. :)
