Midwife or no midwife?!

Question

Thinking about having a midwife this pregnancy and I wanted to hear other people’s thoughts and experiences having a midwife instead of an obstetrician!

I'm a student midwife and may be a little biased 😉 BUT midwives are competent care providers that can offer you a safe and holistic birthing experience. 
Are you thinking you want to birth in the hospital? Or at home? Where do you live?

I absolutely love my midwife. I love the way she cares for my whole family, and her evidence based practice. I will always advocate for midwives!

I absolutely loved my experience with my midwife! I had an OB with my first pregnancy and she was okay but not the greatest. My midwife was fantastic my entire pregnancy and amazing while I was in labor. She was with me the entire time i labored, which was great since I needed the support to have an unmedicated birth like I wanted. She was so soothing and helped me tremendously! I highly recommend finding a great midwife in your area!

Why not have a trained medical professional who went to medical school residency etc and add a Dula or someone to accompany you throughout the process?

I love my midwife, I think having an ob wouldn’t be as rewarding because midwifes get to know you and get to know your pregnancy. My midwife knows my boyfriends name and she’s always taking notes
