Did you do a smash cake for 1st birthday?

Please tell me I’m not the only one that was anal about giving my baby cake because of all the sugar etc. 🙈🙈🙈 
I didn’t want to give my baby any cake for his first birthday .. I hardly even ate any myself!

Well, I gave her a really big cupcake, but she did not eat much of it. She was more interested in playing with it and smearing the frosting around her highchair.

I was against it, but everyone pressured me about the CUTENESS AND THE PICTURES AND BLAH BLAH BLAH.  we did a small smash cake, let her smash into it, put some in her mouth took some pics and off to bath she went,  washed off, brushed teeth, water for thirst and done. ONE TIME,  for less then 4 minutes for the whole thing,  is not gonna cause any issues. she barely eat any because she was busy smashing and hitting and throwing it on the floor. she didn't get that much sugar, despite it looking like she did.  she didn't get all hyoer, she didn't have the shits. all went fine and I'm actually glad I
 did it so I can look at pics of it later on. I'm not doing it every ear. just first birthday and let's face it, in another year, they will be raiding Ur house for sweets anytime they find something sweet they will devour it.. a tiny bit of sweet off a smash cake is not that big of a deal,  as I made it sound..

I am either gonna make a cake from scratch and put some lightly sweetened butter cream icing on, or homemade whipped cream. or if I feel lazy I'm just gonna make her whipped cream and berries

My sister in law made my son a dairy free cake and icing, it was a cute small cake. He barely touched it 😂. If they have never had sugar before it will likely be they don't even eat a lot of it because new food takes a few times to actually enjoy. I didn't see harm in him trying it at all.
