Sent home from labor and delivery

Emily

So ladies. I woke up yesterday morning (8am ish)having contractions about 15minutes apart. By noon they are 10minutes apart and a-little stronger so me and hubby decide today is the day. By 8:30pm they are 5minutes apart lasting 2minutes. So we call labor hall, finally go into labor hall around 9:30pm after contractions got to 4minutes apart. As soon as I get there the contractions basically stop!! 😑 they checked me and told me I was only 1-2cm dilated (same as I was last Wednesday as my appointment)

Mamas I am so discouraged!! I feel like my body is not allowing me to go into labor. I was originally completely against inducing and any medical intervention but I’m considering asking to be induced at my appointment today. I am so tired.

the hormones you create when you are stressed are the hormones that counteract the hormones you need to go into labor. meaning if you stress about it it too much you will just prolong everything. I think you could schedule to be induced and maybe that will calm you down. could calm you enough to help you just go into labor. it's what worked for me. I know that's weird but it's actually statistically high for women to go I to labor once they schedule an induction. :)

I would honestly stay home until you can't talk through contractions and you're feeling "out of it". Your body could be stopping contractions because you're scared or uncomfortable when you get to hospital. Have some light music on in headphones or meditations and have them turn all the lights off in the room your in and focus on you and baby. Go home and take a bath (if your water hasn't broken) and try to sleep. Sleep until you can't sleep anymore. Wish you all the best mama, you can do this... you just need to relax and let your body do the work.

When I was in hospital they placed the heart monitor on babies head so I could still move around. And did the lock for the iv so I could move too. Request those maybe.

Many first time moms go past 40 weeks and that's normal. You need to try to relax. I would request intermittent monitoring and be allowed to move and labour as you like. Have you looked into midwifery care in hospital? I would make a birth plan ASAP. Women need to move during labour which is why it's best to stay home as long as possible. Can you lean over an exercise ball or bounce on it? Turn all the lights off, you will do better labouring in the dark.

Oh really? I mean I went in a tub at the birth centre after my water broke but I guess it depends what you put in the bath. If it's just water then that makes sense.

I didn't go until mine were 2-3 minutes apart and I could hardly function and they still were taking their sweet time getting me in and admitting me. Finally they checked me in to triage in L&D; when the contractions were 1-2 mins apart and I was at 6 cm and my water broke while they just had me waiting and not hooked up to anything yet. It wasn't until I started saying I need to push that they actually were like oh we need to get to you to a delivery room. Like no duh! I've been telling you that! 🤦🏼‍♀️ so even if you're in hard labor sometimes they aren't the brightest people and don't like to listen to you. Like they didn't believe me that my labor was processing that quickly.
