My January baby was born in October....WITH UPDATES!

Gabbie • 👩‍👧‍👦💖💙

So I had my baby yesterday. I went to labor and delivery because I had a fever and was having really bad contractions. They tested me for the flu and it came back negative so they said it looked like I had an infection in my uterus. They did an ultrasound and I was told that all the fluid had gone from my placenta. They told me that the best thing to do was to have my baby right then so I was prepped for another C-section because a vaginal wouldn't be the best thing. So at 28 weeks exactly I gave birth to my handsome baby boy. His name is Wyatt Elijah. He is 2lbs and 15oz and 15 inches long and he was born at 7:01 p.m.

*UPDATE 10/25

Wyatt is doing very well! His oxygen was taken down from 55% to 21% overnight. Today he was taken off the ventilator and put on the CPAP. All his levels are pretty much good. Over all my handsome boy is a fighter! Thank you guys for the prayers!

*UPDATE 10/26

I just got done with a visit and Wyatt is doing very well! When he's awake he's an active little boy lol. Hopefully soon he won't have to be on the Billy blanket. If he keeps having good wet diapers then he'll be off the blanket. Today they just started giving him donor breast milk. I'm also pumping and I'm producing a little bit and they give him that as well.

*UPDATE 10/27

So I went home today and it just kinda hit me that I had my baby lol and it made me kind of sad realizing that I wouldn't be taking him home with me. Wyatt had a little set back today. A hole in his heart that was closed when he was born has tried to open up again so they've stopped giving him breast milk and started giving him meds to close the hole. Other than that he was solely on my milk and was responding really well to it. He was supposed to have a picc line put in today but when they tried to do it it didn't work so they'll have to try again. I'm not sure when they'll do it but I go back tomorrow so I'll see how he's doing then.

*UPDATE 10/28

Wyatt is doing great today. He started the meds for the murmur and not sure how it's working because it just started but he's doing good with it no reactions to it. He now weighs 2lbs 7.5oz. Since he got a little hot today we turned off the jaundice lights and took off his little mask and he opened his eyes and I just didn't know it was possible to fall more in love with this little boy!!

*UPDATE 10/30

Today is the day I got to hold him for the first time and it was great! I did cry lol. They put his PICC line in last night. He was also taken off the photo therapy this morning so no more lights or eye mask! He's back to his feedings and he is now 2lbs 10oz. Overall he's doing just great right now!

*UPDATE 11/3

I know it's been a couple days but not much has really changed which is good. His food was upped to 13mL and he's tolerating it really well. His heart rate did drop earlier today for about 10 seconds but he was able to bring it up on his own. His nurse did tell me that it is normal since he's still small and figuring out how to breathe on his own. He also weighs 2lbs 12oz so he's getting back up to his birth weight! Overall he's doing really well still! Thank you all for all the support I really appreciate it!!

*UPDATE 11/5

Wyatt is still doing great! He hasn't had an set backs lately. He actually got his PICC line taken out yesterday afternoon. He's now up to 26mL of breast milk and is up to 2lbs 13oz.

*UPDATE 11/17

Wyatt is my little fighter and is doing just great! He is actually 3lbs 4.6oz now. He's slowly being put on formula and will fully be on it in about 4 days. He's no longer on his CPAP machine so we're doing just great!
