Mirena IUD to Nuvaring or Depo-Shot?

Hey ladies! So I’ve been wondering what everyone’s experiences have been with the Nuvaring or the shot! My Mirena IUD is just becoming unbearable! 😩 I’m making an appointment later on today for a removal, I’m currently on my third menstrual cycle this month and I’ve had ENOUGH! So I’ve been considering getting either the Nuvaring or the depo provera shot, I’ve taken birth control pills before but this was before I was sexually active and I was very nauseated all the time so I don’t want to retake those, I’ve heard bad reviews about the Nexplanon from 2 friends, I’ve heard good and bad reviews about depo provera and mainly good things about the Nuvaring, my boyfriend is in the army, I’m in college and so preventing pregnancy is a big one for us! I also would like to not gain weight, I’m trying to lose another 30 pounds and I’d like to not gain anything. Your reviews are much appreciated ladies! 💋✨

The shot may work for some, but I'm switching after the first one because the side effects were rough for me. My hair fell out and I've had a period for 4 weeks straight now. It also causes many women to gain a lot of weight, 10-60 lbs, since it'll increase your hunger. I've heard a lot of good comments on the nuvara ring.

I have been on NuvaRing since August and the only bad side effect I’ve had is bloody discharge everyday since I started(after my first period) and my second period on it lasted two weeks, even though it’s annoying as all get out my GYNO says that’s normal for the first few months until it’s all into your system.

I've so far had a good experience with the Nuvaring. My psychiatrist and regular doctor recommended it to me after the pill had my hormones all sorts of messed up. The only problems I had with it were the first couple of days of using it, I was suffering with severe nausea, but after that, everything has been all good. I find it easy to put in and take out which is also a plus!

I've had all 3. Hated the shot. Gained a lot of weight. Mirena was okay but had a lot of issues towards the end. The ring was good. I started it because I was forgetting a lot of my pills. My biggest draw back was my husband could feel it during sex and could be uncomfortable for the both of us. But I liked only having to change it once a month. And I had no side effects that I noticed. 👍🏻  I was on it for 3 months then we decided to start TTC so I don't know long term for the ring. Hope this helps!

Don’t get the shot. It was the worst decision I have made. I’m just getting off of it and only did one shot. My experience with it was horrible. I had all the bad side effects to the point where I had to stay home and miss work. Also bled for the whole 2-3 months. But everyone is different and experiences are different. Best of luck!

the first time I used the depo shot was for a year and a half. my period stopped completely after the very first shot. I remember signing a sheet stating side effects of the shot and it included "increase of appetite". which I'm guessing is what lead me to my weight gain. once I got off the shot, my period came back until 12 months later which was odd but fine by me. I just got on the shot again 2 weeks ago so the only thing I'm going to do different about the increase of appetite is eat the right food. of course I was going to gain weight last time. I got hungry and would eat shit food. eat chips and candy and ice cream and soda. anyone will gain weight that way. now when I get hungry in between meals I snack on veggies and fruit and very little almonds or Greek yogurt. so hopefully that helps.
