Instant mashed potatoes milk substitute??

Kind of in the middle of nowhere and I forgot the milk.
All I have is canned coconut milk.
Would that suffice or should I add equal parts water with a dash of ranch or more margin? I read that somewhere lo

I would do more butter. I feel like water would make it taste different.

Do you have any dry milk? My mother in law just leaves some of the water in the pot that she boiled the potatoes in and adds a few scoops of powdered milk..... regular coffee creamer or heavy cream works too...

I've never heard of instant mash made with milk before, only boiling water and add a bit of butter. Maybe you have different brands where you are that do use milk but water is perfectly normal for the only ones I've ever seen.
