WIC in California?

Does anyone utilize the WIC program in California? I'm 22+3 and figured this is perfect time to apply now that I'm kind of crunching down on money.
Could anyone give me some insight on how it's helped you and I've heard some horror stories about cashiers being rude at the store when you use WIC, is this true? For those who have WIC in California do they still give out paper checks or have they transitioned to using the card (which I heard was easier since you get less attitude from workers in the stores)

I'm from California. they have these mother's choice stores where you can get your WIC instead of going to the market. it's cool cause the cashiers don't give attitude and it's pretty much what they do all day (wic) so they are much faster than the cashiers and the markets.

I live in the IE and they have stores called Mothers Nutritional Centers where I go. It’s much easier I feel, no hassle of nothing. I’ve never gone to an actual store because of that same reason of cashiers. They even help you load everything in your car.

I have wic and live in the sgv. We still have paper checks and like every one else has said they have these stores right next to wic called mothers where u can go redeem your checks. I personally like going to the market and redeeming them because I can get a variety of different fruit and vegetables and I go when there’s a sale to get a little extra bang for my buck!! I personally don’t care if they give me attitude or not. I’m doing this to help my family and if they don’t like it or think it’s “extra work” they can kiss my nice little ass!!!

They give you paper checks and you have to go in every month (or every 3 months depending on your WIC office) to get therm to print out the checks for you. Thery won't have the WIC card things for another few years. I asked about it, and the lady I spoke to said tha t the state of California is pretty behind, so they won't be getting the card things for maybe 5 years. I don't know how accurate of a timeline that is, but it'd be much easier if they just switched everyone over to the cards. Then there would be a lot less of a hassle with checking out. Currently,  you have to separate the items into different transactions according to what is printed on that specific check. I just bought stuff with my WIC checks last time I went grocery shopping and I literally had 6 different transactions (because the checks each only have 4-6 items on them). Everyone behind me was nice about it, the cashier was nice,  but I could see it on the people's faces that they regretted getting in the same line as me. Even if I only use one check and have 2 transactions the people behind me usually get impatient and it says so all over their faces. I've been using WIC checks for over a year and its always the same. I live in southern California though,  so if you live in northern California then it may be a little different,  but this is how it's gone for me ever since I started using it.
