Why do doctors make you wait a full year to test for fertility issues?

I haven’t been TTC for that long yet but I’m wondering why doctors sometimes won’t test until you’ve been at it for a year? If I had been trying for a year with no luck I’m going to be really mad if i find out it’s  something that could’ve been fixed easily months before!

Typically you have about a 1 in 3 chance to conceive each month, and that year is pulled from research done to see how long it takes a healthy couple to conceive. 
Sometimes it depends on your doctor. We’d been trying for 6 months when I made an appointment with my doctor. I had some legit concerns, like length of cycle and cramping throughout my cycle, so she started tests right away because she was concerned. Gave us orders for a specialist at 11 months. Couldn’t hurt to double check with your doctor if you have reason to think something is up.

I feel the same way girl!! I've always kinda of had a hunch that something may be wrong but they won't yest unless I've been ttc for a year so dumb
