how much does cup softness matter?

I've been using the diva cup for almost a year now and it can be a little difficult getting it to open back up and seal after bending the rim to get it in. I was wondering if maybe a softer cup would 'pop out' better once inside? ive heard that the diva cup is one of the harder cups out there

Run it under cold water first and it will pop open more easily. A softer cup would pop open even less.

I'd suggest using other fold methods. I found I could never get the diva cup to properly seal if I folded it in. I think I got it to pop the easiest with doing a fold called 7. Which is basically the same but instead of pushed it in on itself you fold one corner down at an angle so it's still relatively thin when inserting. 
The stiffer the material the easier it is to get it to pop into place. Softer material is better if you are finding yourself having too much pressure or extra cramping.
