Should you be okay with your boyfriend be friends with his ex girlfriend?

Wondering how many of you think it’s okay to let your boyfriend be friends with an ex girlfriend. If yes, give me the reason and same thing if no. Being friends include, getting drinks together etc..

When I first started dating my boyfriend he was friends with his ex, of which they were together for nearly 6 years. They didn't have a bad break up, and he explained they were just friends. Initially I didn't mind this and she knew we were dating and was happy for us, but it did start to bother me because of the amount of history they had. I never once demanded he remove her from his life but I did say I was starting to feel uncomfortable and I did see it potentially posing as a problem in the future the longer he kept her around in general. So after hearing that he was like you won't have to worry about her anymore, and deleted her from all social media including her number and hasn't talked to or seen her since, in which I trust that too. If your man is having such a hard time letting go of an ex and is essentially picking her over you; I definitely see that as an issue and can see why you would be upset. My trust and feelings would falter if he was struggling over that or choosing her 🤔

This was my issue when I first started dating my boyfriend. All his best friends were girls & not just any girls... His ex’s... I was def not comfortable with it so I told him. He reassured me that there was nothing between him & any of his ex’s which is why they broke up. Until he started sleeping over my house but would keep calling/texting one of the 3 girls every day/night. So me being curious & jealous I looked through his phone. Lo & behold they were always talking about her relationship with her boyfriend & how she wasn’t happy. She solely confided in him about everything. Like to the point where they would say “sorry about not calling you last night I fell asleep. I’ll call you after I get off work.” I made him stop calling & hanging out because I knew she still had feelings for him & he knew that too. A year later he finally confessed that he still had feelings for her while we first started dating but got over her because he was with me. I was hurt of course but I trusted him. After that he cut off all ties with all ex’s that were friends with him.

Yeah, I trust him and I'm not his mum. It's a clear boundary he knows he shouldn't cross and I don't need to police it. 
They broke up mutually after 7 years together and became close friends. I'm happy they have each other to rely on for advice and comfort when he needs another opinion. If they still had feelings for each other then they wouldn't be exes.

I feel like in some situations it's okay to an extent. You should never tell the person your with who they can and can't hangout with. But you CAN tell them it makes you uncomfortable and that should be reason enough for them to not hangout with their ex. Shouldn't need to explain why, you're uncomfortable and that's reason enough.

Okay so this is why I ask.. my boyfriend and I have been datin for almost 3 years. It’s a long distance relationship but we visit as much as we can. Since we started dating his ex has been in my life. Literally since we first met, she added me on Facebook because she wanted to know who I was( in a friendly kind of way) they dated back in 2012 or so. But since they worked together they had to stay friends. I never liked her for obvious reasons and I don’t think she liked me either. Now, they don’t work together and don’t even talk but they have each other on social media. I asked my boyfriend to delete her and he kept making excuses so I went ahead and texted her and told her my problem and she didn’t even respond, she just blocked me from everywhere. I told my boyfriend and he got mad at me saying it’s not my call and it’s between them not me. I was beyond pissed, still am. I said it’s me or her and he said to leave him alone. He swears he doesn’t have feeling for her and that he would never go back with her but he is willing to break up with me because I tell him to get her out of his life. It’s bullshit.
