I am currently the third member of a threesome. The couple chose me mutually - which is I believe is the one of the most important factors in making it work. I also started out as a friend, and one drunk night one they said that I was attractive, and if I ever wanted to play with them both I was welcomed to.
We all talked for a while - sober this time - before actually acting on anything. Again, make sure that all parties are consenting and talk about do’s and don’t’s. As the third member, I pay attention to both of them equally because that is what they want.
Don’t feel pressured to get a third member to “spice it up” if you or your partner are not up for it. From other stories, some can get jealous or cross a line. Communication is key and if you need to pull the plug, then do it.
But whoever you choose if you decide to add another person, make sure that you both trust them and they are actually listening to you (and you listen to them). I would rather be told or say that it’s over / not working out than ruining a relationship I entered into or even a friendship.
