Pregnancy with type 1 diabetes?

Has anyone ever gotten pregnant with type one diabetes? I know that you have to get your A1c below 6.5 before doctors say to try. Just wanna hear stories from real women. Was your a1c that low? Details please

I️ know this is a little old, but I’m going through it currently! My a1c was 7.2 when I️ got pregnant. We were not trying and it came as a total surprise. My sugars have been pretty hard to control. Fasting is usually around 120 but after meals even after doubling my insulin take my sugars will be near 250+. I’m 23w2d right now and he seems perfectly healthy. Not advocating for blood sugar spikes but sometimes things just happen no matter how hard we try to work on them! Don’t stress too much

My little girl was a surprise for us but my a1c was not that low. It caught me off guard as were not even trying at that point and I was also on contraception. I was monitored very closely but I kept getting quite severe kidney infections and spent most of my pregnancy in hospital/bed bound. In the end I developed preclampsia and our daughter was born premature through an emergency c-section that I had to be unconscious for. I was very ill and my baby was close to being affected too. Once she was born though, we were both as healthy as anything. I think every Diabetic pregnancy is different so your pregnancy may never turn out in such a way. I just advice that you keep close contact with your doctors/midwife, attend any appointments they may give you (no matter how annoying it can be. They should give you more appointments being diabetic) and try and look after yourself as best you can. I wish you all the luck in the world and congratulations 🎊 😊

My first was a complete surprise the doctor said that I could not get pregnant because my a1c was 11 so we were using anything to stop it she was born early but perfect at 36 weeks she was 9lb 8oz my son was born at 36 weeks to 9lb 6oz and had to spend the night in the nicu because of his sugar but was fine the next day my a1c was 8 when I got pregnant with him. I did have trouble at the end of both pregnancies and was in the hospital from week 32 till I had them with both because of infection but I would not change it for anything they are 4 and 2 and happy and healthy and We are trying for number three but with a a1c of 6 this time. One thing that I have learned is that the doctor is going to tell you the worst case and to listen but don't stress about everything they say because you will just worry your self and it's not good when you do get pregnant.
