Why do people want to have children?

No judgement or anything! I’m just curious as to why people get “baby fever” and what their thoughts are, as I’ve never experienced it! 😁 For those of you who don’t want kids, what are your reasons?

Because the thought of my husband and I creating something that literally took parts of us and put them together to make another human to grow a family, is just an awesome thing.

I'm too selfish and irresponsible to become a mother. I don't have a maternal bone in my body. This world is crazy and populated as it is.

I don't want kids. I just don't like them. I don't know how to talk to them, they annoy me (talk a lot, always need attention, run around), they are gross (snot and dirty diapers and spit - im a little OCD. With spit especially - if it touches me = panic attack).  I 'm extremely introverted and need to spend most of my time alone. I feel like if I had a kid I would get so frustrated and depressed and not be able to replenish any energy because the kid needs to be tended to constantly, no alone time. No breaks. Nothing about children is appealing to me. Except naming them. I like naming things 😂

I've never wanted kids ever since I found out what pregnancy, childbirth and taking care of a baby actually entails (so from a young age). Pregnancy and childbirth freaks me the hell out, and I'm NOT cut out for changing dirty diapers and dealing with spit up. Ugh. 
However, I'm 27 and I have experienced baby fever. All in all, in pissed me off. The whole month I was going through it I was mad that I felt that way because I knew damn well it was just my genetic programming urging me to reproduce. I just kept reminding myself over and over that the world is over populated, there's thousands and thousands of orphans, and humanity is killing the earth by draining her resources because there's too many of us. 
Eventually the urge stopped. I still get twinges of it sometimes, but I'm over it.

Because babies are cute and everything for babies is cute, but also I want a family. You see families who are crazy but love each other anyways. I want that. I want to nurture my kids and encourage them to do things. I want to go to their sports games and cheer them on. Or watch them learn something new. I want to watch them succeed in life and be apart of it. I want to tuck them in at night. I want to see their face light up on Christmas morning. I want the happy memories to fill my heart and life. I don’t just want a kid or a cute baby. I want a family. So when I’m older I have someone I love to be there for me. 
FYI I’m a nurse and seeing people go through hardship or dying alone with no kids or kids who are “too busy” breaks my heart. I’ve had people die without any family. I don’t want that. Family is what people truly have and cherish in the end. I want to do my best to have a good one.

I am probably a weirdo, but I first started wanting kids when I really studied more about embryology and what a pregnant persons body undergoes. I became obsessed with reading about it. It wasn’t the best time for me to have a baby, though. And prior to this random and sudden obsession, I was so against having children. I was pretty irresponsible and stupid so I took Plan b multiple times a month and boom lol. And no I wasn’t actually trying, we were just being stupid. And it’s been the best time of my life. I love being a mother. She’s almost 11 months now and I’m 11 weeks pregnant with another. I wanted my kids relatively close in age.

For the first year of our marriage, I was just enjoying the two of us. But sometime after the year mark, I started feeling ready for our next great adventure together. Nothing was lacking or missing from our relationship (I know some people feel that way, I just didn't) but I felt ready for more.
