I’m posting this here because my friends always ask me and I figured maybe it might help someone else too! My brushes and sponges get super nasty from all of the looks I try out (usually worse than the first pic) and I’ve found a fairly good solution! I use a mixture of 1:1 gentle dish soap to olive oil! I usually use dawn just because I feel like maybe it’ll break down any olive oil left in the brushes. I’m sure lots of people know about this hack but I’ve just started using this the past few months and it’s extended the life of my brushes! Hope this helps someone!
