Should people have to pay for clean water?

Question

Do you think it’s wrong to make water (a necessity in life, you can only survive 3 days without it) something companies can make a profit off of? Why or why not?
Should both running water (i.e. the water in your house that you shower & cook with) & bottled water be free? Why or why not? Should one be free & not the other? Should neither be free?

I think people should have to pay for someone else cleaning their water, and delivering it to their home. You can always go live off the grid and do this all yourself if you don’t want to pay.

I think we should pay when others work to clean the water. 
Now if there is a health hazard with using/consuming the water even after it’s supposed to be “cleaned” then I think that causes for reason to not pay.

Look at Flint, Michigan...
No one deserves to pay for their water to be cleaned. Those people are still living with horrible side effects of not having clean water.
What about fracking?
I️ see it as a basic undeniable human right to have access to clean water.
Now if you choose to buy those water jug thingies for your home from like sparklets or whatever then yes you can pay for clean water although I️ still think it should be clean anyway.

There's a lot of cost to maintain running water,  and buying bottled is a choice. For "city water" if you don't pay a bill it would just become a tax increase to cover the costs. I live on a well so it's not such a big deal but i still have to pay for the electricity to run the pump. I suppose if you wanted to do it pioneer (or third world) style you could get a hand pump in the middle of the neighborhood and everyone could use buckets. "Free" water is impractical. I'm not saying they should charge whatever they can for water but it's kind of the reality of society, of large population centers especially. And some places like L.A. and Las Vegas couldn't survive without water from miles away being piped in, someone's gotta pay to maintain that...

I think tap should be free. I’m fine with people having to pay for bottled, except in the case of places like Flint where the tap isn’t safe to drink.
Flint still doesn’t have clean water btw.

I’ve put yes to paying for water but it should be done as a not for profit business, I don’t necessarily mean paying for it directly, water treatment plants cost money to run, so even if it is government funded it comes from taxes so is still being paid for. I’d rather the money for an essential to life substance not go through corrupt governments but as a payment directly to the company providing it. It should cost enough to maintain what is already in place and enough for future expansions and upgrades, plus wages. There should be no profit in it once that is done.
I don’t know about other countries but in the UK as well as providing water our water companies also provide sewage and draining which again cost money. Our companies do run for profit though which is the big downside.
