Long distance relationship?

So here’s the long story short. My best friend is trying to set me up with one of her friends and they live like 2 or so hours away. He looks cute and we haven’t started talking but both of us seem interested. I don’t really know what advice I’m looking for but I just guess anything? 😕

I’m in a LDR... US to Australia. A bit different, but I’ll see if I can shed some light.  
I guess one thing is it really depends on age. Of course I’m not trying to hate on anyone here, but the ability to drive (in my case.. fly alone) and have a little bit of money for travel is a big deal. Realistically you can’t go forever without seeing each other. Hand in hand with that, free time. Are you in school? Would you guys be able to visit on weekends and/or holidays? 
You said you haven’t started talking yet really, so I’d start there before you get too ahead of yourself. Start talking, video chat, voice chat, find some games to play together, watch movies. Get to know him and his plans for the future. If you do hit it off, I suggest a serious conversation a few months in. Not so much “You or me are going to move to the same town at this time” but it’s REALLY hard to be in a LDR with no set plan. My bf and I were friends for years before we actually started dating, but after a few months of being official, we made a plan that I’d be moving to Australia within the first few months of 2018. Tentatively scheduled now for May 2018 because I need to save more money, but I’m with him now for 2 months and he convinces me more and more every day go just go home next month as planned, grab all my stuff, and come right back.

My boyfriend lives and hour and a half away. If you really want it to work you just have to work at it. We text constantly, Snapchat all day, and we see each other at least once on the weekends, switching between who goes to see who. It’s about making sacrifices, but if you don’t feel like those sacrifices are worth it then it’s not going to work.

My boyfriend and I were a long distance relationship for about three months before I moved in with him. We had only met in person about five times. He’s my best friend, but long distance is really really hard, especially when you really love them. You have to really be devoted to them and be willing to wait for them however long it takes. Both myself and my boyfriend weren’t so good at being faithful in the beginning but instead of breaking up we talked about it and we decided to move in together. There’s more to story but it’s too long haha. Basically, you have to really really want to be with them to be able to be long distance, otherwise someone will just get hurt
