Letrozole Study... Have you heard this?

Question

I️ have an appointment with my fertility specialist in a week to discuss the next steps of treatment which would most likely be taking letrozole. I️ am going to ask him the question below, but wanted to get others opinions as well..
When looking up different articles I️ read some doctors won’t prescribe it because of a study back in 2005 that said it could lead to higher birth defect rates (others have disproven the study). Has anyone else heard this or has your doctor mentioned anything regarding the two factors? Thanks so much in advance!

Letrozole can cause birth defects if taken while pregnant. Fortunately it has a short enough half life that it will be out of your system by the time you actually conceive. Letrozole has similar incidence of birth defects as clomid and not much different than unassisted conceptions.

My doctor prescribed it to me first because he did it had less side effects than clomid and wouldn't make me as sick 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ooh, that’s good to know and ask about! I asked a few days ago if anyone had any success stories on letrozole/femera, but it didn’t cross my mind to look at side effect stories. Guess it’s my baby-crazed brain 🙄

Yes. My fertility specialist mentioned it when he was getting ready to prescribe it. He said the study was small and basically didn’t seem to put much stock in it. He said that letrazole isn’t approved foe fertility treatment, but that it works very effectively.
