Homemade baby food?

Question

Has anyone else done homemade baby food? I'm a ftm and I'm trying to figure out what the best route to take is before I get there. I know some babies have sensitive tummies and I will probably have to play around with the kind of food they eat. But I was wondering if anyone else has done the homemade baby food and it work out well?

I started out doing homemade baby food but it was too much work, so we ended up doing Baby led weaning. So much easier, but you still have control over what it is your baby eats and what is in their food.

I’ve done baby led weaning with 2 babies and plan on continuing with it for the rest. It’s so awesome they can learn texture, taste and control how much they eat. They really do know when they are full and don’t need us pushing more food on them then they need. If you decide to go this route I recommend looking up the difference between gagging and choking. A lot of people freaked out when they would see my kids gagging which is understandable if they don’t know the difference.

I made all of my son’s baby food. It was so easy and economical. I would freeze in ice cube trays and store in ziplock bags. Once he tried things with no allergy I would mix them and come up with some awesome combinations. It was a lot of fun and he really enjoyed the variety!

I made a lot of my baby’s food the first several months. I would boil the veggies and purée them in the blender. We did lots of canned peaches and pears too. The fresh pears just never seemed to ripen up or taste good. I froze them in silicone ice cube trays and then put them in freezer bags. We also did baby food from the store for when we were on the go or when I ran out of things. I used mostly baby food from the store when she got to where she was eating mostly stage 2 and 3 because it was just easier than coming up with lots of flavor combos. Once she got older (like 15 months) she finally figured out how to eat the pouches and I give those to her in addition to just table scraps

I loved making baby food for my daughter! Baby led weaning wasn't for me, but I really enjoyed picking out the veggies and fruits and making combos later on. I would use fresh for whatever I could find, and use frozen for whatever wasn't in season or I couldn't find fresh. I froze it in ice cube trays and then popped them out as I needed the night before. We started with veggies and then went from there.

We did a mix of both with our first. Pouches are great when on the run but it is really simple whipping it up at home and freezing batches. 
Start simple, single ingredients, small bits at a time. I remember being over the moon that E liked mashed carrots at 6 months, let her eat a whole plate of it and spent the entire night awake with a baby with a sore tummy lol

I made all of my daughter’s food and plan on doing it with this kiddo too. I bought the baby bullet and I really liked it. It comes with a steamer (if I remember correctly, this was 4 years ago lol)  and then I just puréed it. My only complaint with the baby bullet is that the steamer is not very large for doing bigger batches. I would just set aside Sunday’s to make the food for the week and then freeze it. I mainly decided to do this bc I wanted to buy fresh organic fruits and veggies for my daughter.

I made all of my son's purees when he was little. It was really easy and totally worth it. I'm planning on doing it again with this baby.
