does it take forever ? or it’s easy and fast?

i been thinking about adopting because i feel like i can’t have my own kids because me and my husband have been trying for years.... i just want to go how to get started before we find another place for us... we are in the processs of moving again but to a much bigger house because we live in a apartment right now
