I would say it depends if it’s premeditated yes if it’s in the heat of the moment in self defense no.

I feel like it has to go to trial to determine the situation. I can’t just say “he abused me and now he’s in my wood chipper” but I feel as though in true instances of this we need to encourage therapy. Not punishment

First of all, to everyone who has gone through an abusive relationship— no matter what the level of abuse was— I’m so sorry that you’ve gone through that and I hope that you are healing from that situation 💕 To anyone going through abuse— PLEASE get help! NO ONE IS SAYING MURDER IS OK!! What they’re saying is prison time isn’t the best course of action for this situation. Therapy and rehabilitation, even probation would be a better course of action that helps the woman re-enter society and heal from what she’s gone through, and help her have a healthy future, rather than throwing her in prison and pushing her back into a cycle of abuse. Also: just because YOU were able to get out of a terrible situation alive and well does not mean EVERY abused woman can or will. Just because YOU survived and didn’t have to take dramatic action to do so does not make you a better person or survivor than anyone else who has suffered from abuse. You’re not a better victim/survivor. So how about we stop victim shaming and tooting our own horns and actually have an intelligent conversation? ☺️

I'm a prison abolitionist ✌️ I encourage you all to look into it. The rates of rape and abuse victims in prison is astronomical. It's a big human rights issue.

The fact that there are actually people on this thread claiming that it's okay to commit premeditated murder, really makes me wonder what they themselves are contemplating. Choosing to harm another person knowingly is wrong. No matter what the circumstances. The only instances where any kind of violence is acceptable or excusable, is in organised sport, self defense, or defense of someone who cannot defend themselves, and only in the heat of the moment. Premeditated murder is a crime, and there are no circumstances where it is excusable.

i can't answer the poll because if it's premeditated then absolutely but if it's out of self defense then absolutely not!! (if it helps, I was abused growing up and in two romantic relationships, and I almost snapped and attacked my father with a knife but therapy DEFINITELY solved that problem!! If you are experiencing homicidal thoughts then there are people that can help!!!)

I've been abused. For so long I was mentally and emotionally manipulated that I had no idea it was abuse. He said it was my fault and I absolutely believed him. It became physical shortly after and went on until he almost killed me in front of my 3 year old. (luckily she was from previous relationship) I had no where to turn so I went to the YWCA who helped me see what he really was. While there I met so many woman who had gone to prison or jail for lashing out at thier abusers. Hearing thier stories broke my heart. They didn't deserve punishment, but counsel, someone to help them get on thier own feet.
