What’s the point of getting proof of cheating?

I’ve seen a few posts on here where woman are looking for proof to show a judge. Do you live in a state that acknowledges cheating? From what I have read only 7/50 states even take that into consideration. So I guess I’m just wondering what you think you are going to get out of bringing it up in court.

I️ just think people want to be sure before throwing their marriage down the drains. Sometimes a partner is in denial and needs the proof of walk away. 
I try not to judge. I’ve been cheated on. I trust myself enough to recognize it quickly

I’ve always wondered that as well. Personally if I were I judge I would be like I don’t give 2 shits about the “he said she said” petty stuff.

Adultery is grounds for divorce and court is all about proving what you're saying. Therefore, I think the proof of cheating helps in a divorce proceeding.

in some states it can help alimony or help with a divorce settlement

Where I live (Scotland) you can get an immediate divorce if there has been adultery and it can be proved. Otherwise you have to be separated for a year.

It can come in to play with custody hearings. If you can prove the person is immoral,  selfishly breaking up the family unit and has poor judgement, they may get less custody.
