Can your child still be a jr. if you change the father's middle name ? legitimate reasons please why you (dis)agree

im currently pregnant & know i want to name baby after DH but idk if i want to change the middle name or not. but if i do is he still a jr ?

im pretty sure just giving them the first name makes them a Jr. not many people go by their middle name or have it known too much. it's more of the fact that they are named after their dad in the sense of first name. some people do it all but I don't think it's needed to be considered a Jr. I know plenty of kids that are Jr and dont have the same middle name.

My husband is the third. 
Technically, it’s supposed to be identical first, middle, and last name to be considered a junior, III, IV, etc. 
However, no one can prevent you from making your child a junior. 
No one’s checking at the birth certificate office or anything like that. Lol.

Hubby has the same first and last name as his father, BUT hubby has a middle name while his father does not. Hubby is NOT a junior and honestly this name situation has caused more than it’s fair share of confusion with health insurance, banks, car dealerships, doctor’s offices, etc. We kept the first name in the family with our son, but moved it to the middle and gave him a different first name to avoid the hassle they’ve had to deal with.

Technically and historically a jr has the exact name of the senior and any II’s, III’s, and IV’s.   My husbands father went by a nickname and my husband was named after the nickname. Think: fathers name is Robert and goes by Bob.  Kids name is Bob.  Anyway, his middle name is he same and his birth certificate says Jr even though he’s really not.  He only found out he’s a legal jr when we got married.
