okay so im 15 and im pregnant . i was wondering if my best friend (a girl) can sign the birth certificate instead of the babys biological dad . like my best friend is literally gonna be the babys dad in every way but biologically . like is it legal for 2 teen girl to sign a birth certificate in Indiana?

Birth certificate is a legal document, a "friend" can't just fill in. Also, involved or not you should have the father on it because it's required if you need child support later for some states.

Also, even if she could, she needs to research what exactly it means to be on a birth certificate. It’s a legal document. I’m fairly certain it means that person is financially responsible for the child.

No. She would only be able to do that if y’all were married. It’s good that she wants to be there and help you out but y’all are 15 and things are going to change so much within the next couple years so I wouldn’t hold her to that. My friend got pregnant at 15 and the people who said they would be there for her and would support her talked about her behind her back and no longer do things to help her.

The birth certificate is more for legality purposes. It doesn't really matter how you chose to include her or not in the babies life biologically he is the father and the purpose of the legal document is to record that piece of information for legal purposes not really for any other reason beyond that.

If you and this girl were married yes. Just a relationship, no.
But its not required to put dad on there either. 
He has 72 hours to signed a paternity affidavit (hospital will give you to y’all separately). He can sign it and be the legal father or decline it. 
If declined he doesn’t have to be on the birth certificate which means he has 0 rights to the baby, 0 custody, but also doesnt legally have to pay you any child support.
