Did I do wrong

Ok so my sister in law and I  are very close. She’s 17.  She told me she thinks shes ready to have sex. So she asked me if she could buy condoms because the one  that her bf has is a brand she never herd of. So anyway I did I bought her condoms. And told her ALWAYS use one. Event if you run out and your embarrassed to ask me for more don’t be, just ask. Was I wrong? I know for a. Fact my husband would be mad but I couldn’t have the possibility of her being pregnant on my conscious.

It would be much more supportive to a 17 year old to discuss what it means to be ready for sex. What does she hope to receive from sex at this age? More emotional closeness, more security that she’s loved? Would she like to prove her commitment? Would she simply like to feel good? And is sex at 17 the best way to get what she wants, considering the risks? For instance:
What does it mean to be that vulnerable at an age when any mishap falls on your parent’s shoulders, or any misunderstanding leaves a boyfriend potentially liable for accusations? What does it mean to risk pregnancy in high school? Is she ready to consider the possibility of abortion as a teenager, or offering a baby for adoption? Is she ready to potentially lose the first boyfriend she slept with, because a lot changes after high school!
So let’s get one thing straight: her pregnancy should only be on your conscience if you condoned her sexual activity in the first place. Plenty of ladies on here will tell you that condoms don’t always work unless you use them right 100% of the time, and 17 year old girls are legally children, who are not often mature enough to understand the repercussions of “just skipping it one time”!

You've proven to her that she can trust you - she knows now she can come to you and you're an adult who's willing to support her. I'd do the same for my sister if she was the same age - I'd prefer to buy her condoms for her to use them rather than get std/sti etc
