Given estrogen instead of birth control

Hello -- I went to a new doctor last year for a birth control patch refill (I moved countries) and she told me they didn't have the same brand name but she would give me the same thing. Fast forward 6 months and my once perfectly clear skin is covered in acne. I recently went to another doctor and she told me I was given estrogen patches for women in menopause (I'm 24) and not birth control. I'm on real birth control again but my acne continues to get worse/spread all over my body and it's very painful. Does anyone know other ways to lower estrogen levels? No skin care product is going to work (trust me I've tried everything). I'm feeling very ugly and can't just tell everyone the reason I look like this. Thanks.
