long distance family members...

I have a big extended family (18 aunts and uncles combined) and not all of them live in the states but would love to have them here for the wedding... I know they have the option to not come but for some reason I feel like I will look like a jerk for sending an invite in the first place... has anyone else ran into this problem and how did you handle it?
