I think 8 months is a fair amount of time to ask where you’re at and if it’s serious. He doesn’t need to lay a life plan out for you, but if he can’t simply say, I see/want you in my future, I think you may deserve a little more.

I would say it's an ok question for an older couple, bc as you get older you know what you want and aren't looking to waste time with someone not on the same page. But you guys are very young, so I agree with what others are saying. Just take it slow and enjoy, maybe bring it up again at a later point in your relationship.
