How to get birthing centers and home births covered by insurance!?!??

I live in Los Angeles and I’m really interested in giving birth at a birthing center or even a home birth. My insurance doesn’t cover any of that, not even a midwife. Is there a way of getting around having to pay all expenses out of pocket? I have Blue Cross Blue Shield.

I have BCBS and they are in-network with my birthing center! It's weird they're telling you they don't allow birthing centers? Maybe find a few centers that are close to you and call BCBS and specifically ask about that center by giving them the name and address.. maybe whoever you're talking to on the phone is an idiot? 🙁

I have blue cross and they will pay as long as the midwife is licensed by the state. The birthing center I’m using is attached to the hospital, we have two in our area like that. Maybe finding something similar? If you haven’t already I’d Call blue cross and ask them what their guidelines are?!
