Breastfeeding without pumping???

I just found out I won’t be able to get a breast pump through insurance because I got one last year. I gave that one away because it wasn’t working for me and now I’m going to have to buy a new one but I’m wondering if it’s really necessary? With my first I only pumped maybe an oz each time idk if it was the pump, maybe I’m just one of those ppl pumps don’t really work for, or maybe I was just doing it wrong. This time around I don’t have to go back to work right away so I’m wondering if I even need a pump? Who has done it without pumping at all?

A manual pump is probably the way to go. You can get them for like $20-30 and it will help anytime you’re feeling engorged. For you plan to give a bottle for any reason, then yeah, I would buy an electric one.

I’ve been Breastfeeding my daughter 18 months this far and never pumped. I am a stay at home mom so it wasn’t necessary and I was honestly just too lazy 🤷🏻‍♀️.

A pump is definitely not necessary if you won’t be spending much time away.
If you want a cheap alternative so you have a little something saved for time away, I’d highly recommend one of these

I would say to look on amazon for a cheap hand pump that you pump yourself. I’ve heard that in a lot of cases those work much better than automatic ones.

I bought my manual pump at walmart for $15 I think it was, it was Evenflo brand. It worked well for me.

Are you going back to work? If not then you don’t need one really. I breastfed my daughter for 12 months and she never took a bottle.. I can hand express up to 3 ounces if she gets a letdown first... so I’ve only used the pump when I’ve had a clogged milk duct. I did have to supplement in the beginning though so I pumped but I don’t think it’s necessary. If you were in a bind someone could run and get you a hand pump.

not from experience just from family, if you're a stay at home mom that doesn't plan to go out you can do it. or if you plan to do formula as well as breastfeeding. otherwise I've been told by family it's a really good idea to have a pump so that you can go out, have a few drinks, and not worry about alcohol in the milk. again not from experience just from family giving advice

I bought a pump to help stop breastfeeding... I found it easier to stop breast milk flow by pumping and weaning instead of breastfeeding and weaning. Plus pumping is not as effective of creating milk flow than breastfeeding so it actually creates less milk than breastfeeding. That's the only reason I bought a pump. And I was pumping and breastfeeding at the same time and would freeze all my extra milk, so by the time I was done breastfeeding I had a good month or so of breast milk supply to continue my feedings and then switch to formula once I ran out of breast milk :)

I rarely ever pumped because I was a stay at home mom so why bother😂 I also hated it a lot lol it’s so uncomfortable and strange feeling
