Does anyone else feel embarrassed/insecure if they can't dye their hair for a while?

I haven't dyed my hair in about four months so my roots are horrendous and it really embarrasses me because I feel like people will laugh or think I'm scruffy, plus every time I see my hair I'm reminded how poor I am and wish I could do something about it. 
Anyone else hate having long roots?

Omg yes. I HATE when my roots are coming in. I've died my hair dark for many many years, and i'm naturally blonde. Its not even that i'm worried about people judging me- its an internal thing. I just hate my natural hair.

It's not about the roots for me RN..I'm just aggravated that my natural hair color is darker than I remember it 🤣 I hate the way I look with brown hair.

This is my current root situation(please excuse unwashed and unbrushed), and I can't do anything until the blue fades more. but if you're light and going dark, try getting a grocery store box (like $8-$15 for a good one if I remember correctly), match it to your ends, focus the color on the roots and blend a bit through to the tips.

Haven’t had my hair done since July. My roots have definitely grown out quite a bit. It’s pulled back so most of the time it’s not noticeable, but I am soooo looking forward to feeling better when I look in a mirror. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks.

I prefer to just leave my natural color alone so I don’t have to worry about the upkeep or damage to my hair.

If it's just your roots you should see if maybe a cosmetology school near you has hours when they do services. Those are always cheaper (I got my roots done and grays covered for $8 recently). I was nervous going in but there was an instructor overseeing every part of the process and double checking for mistakes the entire time. It turned out great!
