Because modern medicine has brought us far more good than bad. I know our bodies can handle the pain, but why do it when you don't have to? You wouldn't turn down anesthesia for any other surgery/trauma. Having an epidural was a great decision for me. My only side effect was the shakes, which I knew was probable, so I was happy with my decision... especially since I tore and got a severely bruised tailbone; I was glad I didn't have to feel those things while they were occurring because I don't know if I would have had the strength to push through them. I know it's an individual choice, but for me the epidural was 100% the right call and I will definitely have another one for subsequent pregnancies.

I had an epi w my first w no issues. I didn't take the time to learn about the side effects or other options I had. With this baby I took that time and I will not be getting one. I respect whatever decisions each momma makes.

I was in the middle of a 25 hour labor that had stalled so I decided to get the epidural so that I could relax and try to get a bit of sleep while I could. Worth it.

My pain wasn't unbearable... but I was coping with it by wanting to cuss at everyone. I decided I didn't want to be a raging bitch during delivery and asked for the epidural. It was honestly great. I felt incredibly calm and focused while I pushed, instead of dropping f-bombs and screaming. This time i'll go as long as I can again, but I'll be open to an epidural with this baby too.

Having a c section so only option for me. When I watch ‘One born every minute’ the ladies with the epidural seem to have a much calmer labour. But then, all experience are different for everyone 😊 good luck in your choices 🎉
