I'm looking for the right method of birth control-

My periods are pretty out of control so doctors want something to regulate that, now I'm looking for something effective as birth control as well,

I've never had sex yet and it would be medically dangerous if I got pregnant, I still want to use condoms for protection against STDs,

I don't want something too invasive at first but doctors are worried about hormones from the pill backfiring so IUD has been recommended,

Any suggestions/tips/ideas/advice?
