Convertible Car seat?

When I had my daughter (3years ago) I remember that we weren't allowed to leave the hospital until we proved that we had a safe carseat to take the baby home. This time around I'm getting a convertible car seat instead of one of the small ones you can carry around.. Will this be okay? Will they let me leave the hospital with my baby in this? It's 5lbs and up.

Yes. With my oldest a nurse just walked to the car with my husband to look at the seat, and then stood there while we strapped him in and checked his buckles before we pulled out.

Yes it's fine. A hospital cannot stop you from leaving and they cannot dictate the type of car seat you use.

The paperwork I got from my hospital says they don’t check. So I’d check with your hospital. They may not even ever look at your car seat.

Ours walked us to the car so I'm sure as long as you have a car seat to take them home in it's fine, the type doesn't matter.

I think you'll be fine. At the hospital I delivered- they just want to know that you have a rear facing seat that is installed. They didn't really do any other checking and let me know that hospital staff is not allowed to help you install it.
