First time getting fake nails: gel or acrylic?

I'm getting fake nails for the first time and I'm not sure which kind to get.

I’ve heard baddddd things about acrylics. I got gels recently done and I love them, but only on my natural nail bc I liked the length either way. I’ve heard wonders about this thing called SNS?? Apparently it strengthens your nails at the same time... and you can get the little extensions. Basically it looks and feels like acrylics but is 1000% better for your nails. Go into the salon and ask if they have it, if not I’d say gel. BUT THEN AGAIN it’s your choice, I have heard great things about acrylics too but the bad stuff always sticks, hey?

It all depends on how long you plan on keeping them. After a while gel nails all deteriorate your natural nail and make it thin. Acrylic will also do the same but in a shorter amounts of time but again it depends on how long you keep up with your nails or if you end up just having them taken off before your next fill. I prefer acrylic myself with normal or gel polish just bc I feel like they hold up better and longer than gel nails themselves

I was always told that gel is healthier for your nails. I don’t know if that’s 100% true but from my past experience acrylics always leave my natural nails in horrible condition afterwards, even getting them taken off at the salon. Gel nails have always been removed and my natural nails still look lovely and long.
