My drs suggest bathing them (enough water to soak the cord/belly button) every day from birth until it’s completely healed.

Our son still has little chunks of cord in his belly button, so we're waiting a little bit longer until I don't see them anymore. My 2yo had a herniated belly button from it getting wet too soon before it was completely healed (also I don't think it helped that he older sister kept pulling on her stump 😐). I just don't want to deal with one again.

i am still using a wash cloth and sponge bathing. she is 11 days old and it fell off at 7 days. figured i would wait 1 more week to be safe.
