My Birth Story
So on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day I had two family meals. one at lunch at my SIL and one at dinner at my older sisters. All day I was having more pains then normal and inconsistent contractions. However I made it through the day and didn't go into labor. Then at around 1:30 am I was woken up by some mild contractions that felt closely spaced. My husband was sleeping on the couch from watching TV, so I decided to just time than myself with an app and see how closely spaced they were. I did this for an Hour. noticed they were 5 to 6 mins apart each time. So I called the ob on call and told her what I was feeling and she told me to go to L&D; to get checked and see if it was false labor or the real deal. I then woke up my husband to tell him what was going on and so we could head to the hospital which included waking up our 16 month old son at 3 am. We got to the hospital and they put me on the monitors I was still having contractions but still mild. They checked my cervix which was extremely difficult. Her heaf was sooo low that they had to try to reach around it to get to my cervix which hurt me badly. I was trying to tilt my pelvis up and they we're trying to feel best they could. After them checking me numerous times not very successful but as best they could they determined I was around 2 cm but not progressing while I was there which was about 3 hours. The hospital ER doc came in and told me she thought it was false labor and to go home rest and drink water and they should stop. So we did. I was home for about 3 hours and was still getting contractions every 5 mins, getting slightly more intense but still bareable. I called the ob on call again and she said to go get checked for dilation again because that's pretty much all they could do to determine if it was labor. So again we got ready and woke my son up again who had only slept a few hours since getting home. They couldn't even check my cervix for dialation once I got to the hospital again, they tried to find someone with long enough fingers but we're unsuccessful. The nurses seemed to think I wasn't dialing anyway since my contractions weren't intense enough. They then tried to give me I've with fluid to see if I was just dehydrated hoping this would stop the contractions. They still kept coming at 5 mins apart. They actually started to hurt more after the fluid and intense enough for me to want to cry each time but not even close to what a lot of women feel while in labor which made me feel like a wimp. Finally the Ob from my doc office called and told them she thought it best to go ahead and do my csection which was originally scheduled for December 5; so 11 days later. I was so relieved that I wasn't getting sent home and instead would get to have my daughter and have some relief. So after signing consents and getting prepped and waiting on other women to have csections at 38 weeks exactly I had my repeat csection which included a tubal ligation. All went smoothly and my daughter came out with no health issues at all at 4:44 pm. She weighed 7 lbs 12oz and 19.5 inches long. she is perfect :) Meet Blaike Rose.
