Does anyone have a positive story...?

I’m six weeks today (judging from LMP, but I have long cycles, 36 days).  I went for an ultrasound at my gyn today and all that is there is a small gestational sac, nothing else.  We are waiting one week, getting another scan, and then making a decision from there? I had a scan last Friday too at the ER (due to cramping) and it was again, a small, empty sac.  Did anyone have a similar experience and see something the next scan?

I have long and irregular cycles. When I went for dating scan my LMP had put me at 6w 1d. Measurements came in at 5w 0d and only a gestational sac. I waited 3 weeks for another ultrasound and baby was visible with a strong heartbeat. The wait is hard but try to stay positive!

Since your cycles are long, you very likely ovulate late. Women tend to ovulate about 2 weeks before our next expected period, not 2 weeks after our previous period. So that would push you a week+ late in your dates. The fact that there was a sac is a good sign!  I bet next ultrasound you'll see you're about 7-10 days behind due to your long cycles and baby is fine :)
