Had baby in our bathroom...
So I had planned this really beautiful homebirth and set up two great birthing spaces in our living room and bedroom because I assumed I would end up in one of those two spots. Nope. Gave birth in the bathroom. Lol. Here's a rundown of how events occurred that day.
Around 7pm I was having painless Braxton hicks. These had been occurring semi regularly for days and I didn't get my hopes up or pay much attention to them. A little later I went to the bathroom and had some pink on the toilet paper when I wiped.
Between 7-10pm my painless contractions continued but no more pink on the tissue paper so I wasn't sure if things were starting or not.
Sometime between 10pm-11pm my contractions started becoming more painful and I had a large bit of pink mucus come out during one. That got my attention and I told my husband. My contractions continued to increase in intensity and become painful, but not anything I couldn't walk or talk through.
Around 12am I texted my midwife to come. I still wasn't sure if this was the real deal because I felt so good in between contractions. It was during a contraction that I would think "this is real. I want my midwife" but as soon as it was over I'd doubt myself.
My midwives arrived around 1:30am. My contractions were roughly 1-3 minutes apart and becoming painful enough for me to be unable to talk during one.
I went to our bedroom and attempted to watch on of my favorite vlogs on YouTube inbetween contractions. At 1:48am my water broke on our bed as I was on all fours watching kkandbabyj. Lol
Things really picked up contraction wise from there, but in between them I was able to laugh and talk with my husband. He was making so many jokes and keeping me happy and lighthearted that my midwife actually put "laughed a lot during labor"
In her birth notes.
Things get blurry timewise after his but I think sometime around 2:45 I went to the bathroom. I had to poop. Legitimately poop, not pushing baby. Lol. I stayed in the bathroom from that point on. It felt good to lean against the cool tub.
At around 3am I told my husband to call the midwives in. Up to this point they had made themselves scarce to give me and my husband privacy. I had started to feel vaginal pressure and also felt faint. My husband fed me a spoonful of honey and I felt so much better.
At 3:13 I felt an intense pressure and uncontrollable urge to push. After pushing her head out i remember reaching down and rubbing her head and seeing it between my legs. That was one of the most amazing moments for me. At 3:19am November 25th my baby was born. I was on all fours with one midwife in front of me, one behind to catch, and my husband at my side. Despite her quick birth, my midwife noted that I pushed her out very gradually and did not tear at all.
From the time painful contractions started to birthing was roughly four hours. I couldn't have asked for a better labor and birth. I'm so happy with our finale baby. A third girl.
