How do you give yourself shots?

Most fertility treatments involve at least a few shots. For me it was one of the most intimidating aspects of starting fertility treatments, especially the first few. I asked a some friends of mine who have also been through it what their preferred methods were/are.

My friend M. who has a 3 year old via IVF and is currently TTC again, told me that she lays down flat on the couch or bed, then pinches up the injection site pushes the needle in as fast and straight as she can. M. feels it is better to get it all over with quickly.

My friend P. is terrified of needles even after trying for 2 years. She always has her husband or sister give her the injections while she distracts herself with a game on her phone.

My friend C. usually stands up, pinches the injection site and very slowly and carefully injects herself. C. says that if she gets the needle in at a 90° angle to her abdomen she can barely feel it.

My method is to stand in front of the mirror and watch in the mirror as I inject myself. It is easier for me that way, because I can see the needle a little better and it gives me a degree of separation. Almost like I am watching someone else rather than myself.
