Thoughts on asking to get 20 week scan done early?

I am 20 weeks the day after Christmas! We are really wanting to find out the gender before the holidays. Like the Friday before Christmas (Dec. 22nd) I will be 19weeks 3 days. Do you think if I ask my OB at my next appointment (Dec. 1) if we can get the scan done early that she will allow it? Or are they pretty strict on the 20 week mark? Thank you!!

Yep! I’m 20 weeks Christmas week, so my scan will be the Thursday before Christmas at 19 weeks. I think the anatomy scan is done 18-20 weeks so 19 should be fine.

My dr won’t do it until 21 weeks. I have only ever heard of private places doing them early.

I’m having mine at 18w4 days Tuesday.

I got mine done at 19 weeks and2 days so totally can. The rule is truly between 18-22 weeks

They may but don't get your hopes up.  There are some radiologists who will refuse to read an anatomy scan of less than 20 weeks on the dot

I asked my midwife about this for the exact same reason, because I’ll be 20 weeks on Christmas Eve and I didn’t want to wait until after the holiday to find out if I’m having a boy or a girl. She said it was no problem and I was able to get my 20 week ultra sound scheduled for Dec. 22nd when I’ll be 19 and 5. Good luck to you!!
