what am i doing wrong!? *UPDATE*

i need some tips ladies! this seems sloppy to me and i can’t seem to get it to look right! maybe i’m not blending enough? tips?

i tried something new.. date night with hubs at a dressy event.. butttt i feel like Ursula from Little Mermaid! 🤣 oh well.. too late to turn back now! i def need more practice!

I'm a makeup artist! first thing... never ever ever put a shimmer shade in your crease!!! you need a base of first, blend concealer or eyeshadow primer all over your eyelids! Then blend a warm or cool toned brown in your crease, towards your brow bone as your transition shade! Then use a darker MATTE colour on your outer corner/outer V of your eye, also blend this towards your brow bone and through the crease! Then you want to the lightest shade/shimmer shade on your inner half of your eyelid, blending to outward to the darkest shade! These are some example photos of my own work!!!

Before putting on any shadow.. use foundation or concealer as a primer.. then use a setting powder or face powder on top of that. It will help with blending. Put a tradition shade.. and these vary depending on the look you’re going for. I usually use a light light brown. Put it on the crease and work your way up almost to the brow bone. When you apply shadow to your crease and want a beautifully blended look start off with slight heave pressure and as you work up slowly go lighter with your hands.. and do this in a circular motion. After that apply lid color.. either matte or sparkly.. I typically use a more synthetic brush because it applies the shadow so much better.. the fluffy brushes keep the product. After that repeat that transition shade process with your darker color. When I’m using black for the crease I usually start with dark brown and blend it a lil ways up almost to where the transition shade ends and then repeat with black.... and I start with small amount of product and build.. just to get it blended so there’s no harsh amount of black and more of a natural look. After that I use a shimmery white /or highlighter and get my inner corners and brow bone. You look amazing hunny.. hope this helps :)

Before you go in with any shadow you need to prime your eyes and set the primer so that it doesn’t crease. Then apply a shade that is very close to your skin tone (pale cream) all over you lid and to the brow so that the colours you put on top have something to blend into. Then gradually work your way to darker. I usually use a light brown, then a slightly deeper brown, then a darker brown (or red/ whatever colour you choose). Also make sure that you focus the deepest just in the crease. Also, remember that the darker the shade, the lower it goes - don’t blend it too high! Also make sure you have good brushes because that will completely up your game. Also, once I apply the shimmer on my lid, I go back into the medium shade that I applied  and SOFTLY blend it out so there are no harsh lines. Good job so far

I’ve learned a lot of tricks from watching YouTube tutorials. There’s so many different people who are experts and are able to explain techniques without it sounding like a completely different language. 
Sometimes it can be the brushes or even the product that are the issue. If the brushes don’t pick up pigment well or don’t blend well then that could be the problem. Some products, no matter how expensive they are, just don’t have good pigment and aren’t blendable. It helps to test stuff out by swatching on your hand in the store or buying products that have really good reviews.

Instead of using glitter in your crease area use a matte shadow. Use an eyeshadow base and wet your brushes before apply glitter shadows to your lid

always use brown for creases blacks will have you looking harsh. use a primer before eyeshadow so it will be more pigmented. how about trying a different shade of purple maybe a darker one and use that shimmery purple on top of a matte purple to accentuate not take over but everybody has to start from someone so at least you're starting

start with a primer for your eyeshadows to look more pigmented and use a transition shade in the crease and blend with a big fluffy brush and use the lid color very last just on the spot where you want it to avoid the glitter going everywhere also a cream shadow or base underneath the lid color would make it pop more
