Im Asian. Baby is Asian/White mixed. People always comment about how he does not look like me. Some lady today at the library thought I was a sitter! Does it bother you that your mixed baby doesn’t look like you?

My kids come out extremely light like almost white and people assume for the first two years I’m not their mom or their dad is a white guy.
I get annoyed that people don’t realize black folk can give birth to babies of all color.

I'm in the opposite situation. I'm white and my husband is Chinese. We have two daughters (3yrs and 2yrs) and I felt until recently that they looked -nothing- like me. People always commented on their Asian features  (brown eyes when mine are green, darker hair, smaller nose, etc) and said how much they looked like their daddy. It hurt, to be honest, and made me sad to think they didn't look like me. But we've recently been around family's with kids who aren't mixed (both parents are Asian) and it's obvious now that my kids are clearly half me. I can see it their smiles, and in my youngest hair color as she gets older. Even in their eye shape. People unfortunately will always make stupid comments, and the "sitter" remarks just come from racist morons . Point being, look for the ways your baby does look like you, instead of how they dont. It's there.

My niece is white/Hispanic and she is very pale with dirty blonde hair. I went shopping with my SIL and everyone thought my niece was mine, I was like just because she’s white doesn’t mean she’s mine, she looks nothing like me feature wise. But her second daughter is dark skinned with black thick hair like her, and we went out again without my older niece and someone said my daughter was so cute because I was carrying her and my SIL was like oh thank you! And the lady looked at her like oh shes yours?  And she looks like my SIL! Again looks nothing like me! Now my daughter looks just like me pale with red hair, and her features too..

I’m Hispanic and my husband is white and my daughter has my olive complexion but our son is white and has dirty blonde hair and looks nothing like me at all. This is a photo of both my kids together and they are so different looking. My son is his daddy’s twin and my daughter is my twin. Genetics can be interesting, we’re pretty curious what our currently baby will look like since we both have our twins.
