First of all, emotional support animals are not the same as seeing eye dogs and such. They are to help people with mental issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, et cetera.

Secondly, I am all for emotional support animals. I believe they are necessary for some people. But I believe some people are abusing the system.

A friend of mine is not allowed to have pets in her apartment but because she ~really really~ wants a dog, she went ahead and filled out paperwork online to have an emotional support animal so her landlord can't sue her or something for getting a dog. She has actually said she doesn't need an emotional support animal, only that she really wants a dog.

I think this is insanely wrong. I think this totally devalues the necessity of emotional support animals for people who ~need~ them.
