Low iron?

Question

Anyone else have had their doctor tell them they have low iron and need to take iron pills? I’m already anemic and didn’t have to take any iron pills with my first pregnancy and was fine when they took my blood when I first found out I was pregnant. Just a little curious is all.

Yes. My iron was at 12 (normal level is at least 80). I️ felt way better even after the first couple days of taking them. I️ was feeling really run down before we discovered the problem.

Yep. My iron levels are a 9 right now.
Low iron increases the chances of haemorrhage during birth as well as low iron in baby, fatigue, lack of concentration, etc.
Some iron tablets can make you sick though :(

I was borderline anemic before I got pregnant, and my iron has always been low throughout this entire pregnancy. Pills aren't working so now that I'm 30 weeks, my doctor wants me to start infusions. So I start that on Wednesday. I don't know much about it but I know people that had it done, and said they feel so much better afterwards! I'm excited because being exhausted and being unable to get simple tasks done is totally exhausting! Good luck to you!

I had to start taking a prescribed iron supplement a few weeks ago. My doctor noticed my iron levels at my gestational diabetes testing. I passed for the glucose, but iron was too low. I don’t notice a difference how I physically feel after starting them, but less hair falls out when I shower. I guess that’s a plus!

I was so low they made me do iron transfusions. I feel way better now that they’ve done them!

Yes! I'm down to a 7!! Having to take them 3x a day. It's been two weeks now and havent felt a change at all so praying it starts working!

🙋🏽‍♀️ I was DX with mild anemia. Im on slow release iron supplements, vitamin c to help it absorb, and stool softeners as needed to assist with the side effects

My level was low and I was borderline anemic with my daughter last year and I added iron pills. I asked my OB on Wednesday and she said my levels were good this time around. So I guess it's true, our bodies handle the pregnancies differently. Hoping I don't get preeclampsia like I had last time. 🤞
